The Commercial HVAC Service Manager job is responsible for overseeing the operations, profitability, and performance of the HVAC service department. This role ensures the efficient delivery of high-quality service to commercial clients while maintaining customer satisfaction and meeting financial goals. The Service Manager leads a team of technicians and support staff, fostering a culture of safety, professionalism, and excellence.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Department Leadership:
    • Manage daily operations of the service department, including scheduling, dispatching, and technician performance.
    • Lead, mentor, and train a team of HVAC technicians to ensure technical excellence and customer satisfaction.
  • Customer Relations:
    • Act as the primary point of contact for commercial clients, resolving issues, answering questions, and ensuring timely service delivery.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to drive repeat business and referrals.
  • Operational Oversight:
    • Develop and implement efficient service workflows and processes to enhance productivity and profitability.
    • Ensure compliance with safety standards, industry regulations, and company policies.
  • Financial Management:
    • Monitor department budgets, analyze financial performance, and implement strategies to achieve revenue and profitability goals.
    • Review and approve estimates for service contracts, repairs, and system upgrades.
  • Service Contracts:
    • Oversee the development and management of preventive maintenance agreements and service contracts.
    • Ensure timely renewal and compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Technical Support:
    • Provide guidance and troubleshooting expertise for complex service calls and repairs.
    • Stay updated on the latest HVAC technologies and best practices to support the team.
  • Performance Monitoring:
    • Track key performance metrics, including response times, customer satisfaction scores, and technician efficiency.
    • Conduct regular performance reviews and address areas for improvement.
  • Inventory and Equipment:
    • Manage inventory levels, ensuring availability of critical parts and tools for service operations.
    • Maintain service vehicles and equipment in optimal condition.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education and Experience:
    • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or degree in HVAC, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial HVAC service, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Technical Knowledge:
    • Extensive knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, including installation, repair, and maintenance practices.
    • Familiarity with industry regulations, safety standards, and energy efficiency principles.
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate technicians.
    • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
    • Outstanding communication and customer service skills.
    • Proficiency in service management software, Microsoft Office Suite, and CRM systems.
  • Other Requirements:
    • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to client sites as needed.
    • EPA certification and other relevant licenses are a plus.
