Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Field Test Technician (NETA Level 3 or higher) to join a dynamic team specializing in electrical power services. This role involves installing, inspecting, and testing electrical power distribution equipment to ensure reliable performance. The technician will work both independently and as part of a team to complete a range of testing and maintenance tasks while adhering to strict safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities

Travel to client sites to conduct inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and start-up of electrical systems.

Supervise and mentor junior technicians and assistants during testing and maintenance activities.

Ensure consistency in testing procedures and documentation across projects.

Track project scope completion and maintain communication with management and customers.

Maintain, test, repair, and replace low, medium, and high-voltage switchgear and circuit breakers.

Troubleshoot automatic transfer switches and inspect cable installations.

Service transformers and related equipment.

Test and calibrate solid-state and electromechanical relays.

Conduct relay calibration and power metering.

Perform motor control center and contractor testing for low and medium voltage systems.

Start-up, troubleshoot, and repair generator control and transfer schemes.

Commission protection and control systems for high-voltage substations.

Sample and analyze insulated fluids for performance assessment.

Complete Job Hazard Analyses, including arc-flash and shock risk evaluations.

Maintain strict compliance with all regulatory and safety requirements.

Provide technical expertise in the sales process for electrical testing and maintenance services.
Required Qualifications

Minimum of 4 years of experience in electrical testing.

Experience working within a team on complex projects.

Familiarity with NETA Acceptance and Maintenance Testing Standards.

Understanding of NFPA 70E Electrical Safety Standards.

Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot electrical performance deficiencies.
-
Willingness and ability to travel regionally up to 20%.

Knowledge of lockout/tag-out and hazardous energy control procedures.

Clean driving record and ability to pass drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications

Current NETA Level 3 or higher, NICET equivalent, or comparable experience.

Hands-on experience in electrical testing and maintenance of power systems.
