Carolina PRG is partnering with a large, publicly traded company headquartered in Charlotte to recruit a Senior Accountant for its newly established Technical Accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced public accountant who enjoys technical research, complex accounting matters, and preparing clear, audit-ready documentation.

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Technical Accounting, this individual will help evaluate complex and non-routine transactions, prepare technical accounting memoranda, maintain accounting policies, and support the adoption of new accounting standards. The position will collaborate with Corporate Accounting, Financial Reporting, Legal, Tax, Treasury, FP&A, Internal Audit, SOX, and external auditors. This is a hands-on individual contributor role offering broad exposure within a complex public-company environment undergoing meaningful accounting and process transformation.

***Hybrid position of 3 days in office per week***


Primary Responsibilities

  • Research and interpret U.S. GAAP for complex and nonroutine transactions.
  • Prepare clear, well-supported technical accounting memoranda and position papers.
  • Support accounting matters involving revenue recognition, leases, business combinations, goodwill and intangible assets, debt, derivatives, stock compensation, equity, contingencies, restructuring, impairment, and discontinued operations.
  • Help maintain accounting policies, research templates, procedures, checklists, and technical accounting resources.
  • Monitor new accounting standards and assist with impact assessments and implementation.
  • Prepare documentation and support for external auditors, Internal Audit, and SOX testing.
  • Assist with financial-statement presentation, disclosures, schedules, and tie-outs.
  • Maintain organized records, status reports, and supporting documentation for technical accounting matters and audit requests.
  • Identify opportunities to improve technical accounting processes, documentation, and workflows.
  • Collaborate with accounting and cross-functional teams to promote consistent application of accounting guidance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • 3+ years of progressive experience in public accounting or a similar role in a publicly traded company
  • CPA or active progress toward obtaining a CPA
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and experience researching accounting guidance.
  • Experience preparing accounting memoranda, audit support, financial-reporting schedules, control documentation, journal-entry support, reconciliations, or similar workpapers.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, written communication, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines accurately within a changing, control-focused environment.

The ideal candidate will be intellectually curious, highly organized, and comfortable researching complex accounting matters. This individual should produce clear, audit-ready documentation while balancing urgency, sound judgment, attention to detail, and effective collaboration.
