Our client is seeking a Senior Manager, Tax to join its Accounting & Tax Department in Arlington, VA. The Senior Manager, Tax will be responsible for managing tax provision, compliance, audits, and tax planning for the Company's operations in the U.S. and international locations. The position will report to the Vice President, Tax and work closely with external tax advisors to carry out the responsibilities described below.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with preparation of quarterly and annual tax provision, including financial statement disclosures
  • Prepare and maintain documentation related to GAAP/Tax differences that impact the ASC 740 tax provision as well as any other tax processes that impact the financial statements
  • Work with general ledger, financial reporting and technical accounting teams to gain understanding of GAAP treatment for transactions to ensure appropriate tax return positions
  • Manage the preparation/review of tax compliance reporting in the US and foreign countries including U.S. income tax withholding requirements.
  • Maintain the Tax Fixed Assets Ledger and manage the reconciliations for various deferred taxes.
  • Help support technical research and analysis for business and tax planning projects that optimize financial and cash taxes on company investments
  • Stay abreast of revisions to various income tax laws and other authority and manage the impacts to the company’s tax profile
  • Manage, review and respond to tax notices as received
  • Support other special projects and compliance initiatives as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong ASC 740 tax accounting knowledge
  • Advanced understanding of U.S. income tax rules (Federal and State)
  • Proactive problem solving mindset to achieve business and tax objectives.
  • Strong work ethic, comfortable working with evolving priorities.
  • Must be able to operate effectively and accurately in a deadline-driven fast-paced environment
  • 7+ years of tax experience in a Big 4 public accounting firm, corporate tax department of a multinational company, or a combination thereof
  • Master’s degree in an accounting discipline is preferred
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong Excel knowledge with a drive to automate processes
  • Familiarity with SAP is a plus
  • Discretion in dealing with confidential material
