Salary: DOE per year
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages and delegates SALT specialty tax research projects to ensure accurate and efficient outcomes.
- Actively participates in client meetings and tax planning efforts, providing expertise for the Tax Department's larger client engagements.
- Serves as a subject matter expert on SALT for both tax preparers/specialists and audit and assurance staff concerning specific tax issues.
- Assumes direct client service responsibilities, managing relationships and engagements where delegated from partners or managers.
- Facilitates communication within the firm regarding important tax developments that may affect clients.
- Delegates, manages, and conducts tax audits and appeals, possibly representing clients before taxing authorities during hearings and appeals.
- Prepares technical memoranda and client correspondence concerning various tax matters.
- Leads additional projects and reports as requested by partners or managers.
- Engages in the firm’s practice development efforts through referral networks, community involvement, and industry activities.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- Minimum of five years experience in public accounting with a proven progression in tax complexity and scope.
- At least two years of experience representing clients before taxing authorities.
- At least one year of experience in supervising and directing tax preparers' work.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required; master’s degree in taxation is preferred.
- Annual completion of forty hours of continuing education to maintain and develop technical and business skills.
- CPA or J.D. certification, or active progress towards it.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in taxation or a relevant field.
- Comprehensive knowledge of current tax laws and their applications.
- Exposure to both SEC and closely held client environments.
- Strong leadership abilities and experience in staff development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, tax preparation and research software, and tax planning tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
