We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Tax Associate to join our well-established and profitable regional CPA firm. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs technical tax review and approval of all tax returns and governmental tax examinations of varying complexity.
- Assumes full responsibility for larger tax returns, delegating tasks as necessary while ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge and proficiency in advanced technical skills necessary for client advisory.
- Ensures that all assignments are accomplished within allocated budgets and timeframes.
- Delegates and manages tax research projects to produce accurate and efficient results.
- Handles and manages governmental tax examinations, representing clients before taxing authorities as required.
- Continuously assesses and reviews tax staff capabilities, assigning tasks based on qualifications and project demands.
- Oversees and provides training to tax staff, fostering a learning environment to enhance skills and knowledge.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- At least two years' experience in public accounting, with a demonstrated progression in tax complexity and scope.
- Minimum of one year's experience in supervising and directing the work of tax preparers.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
- Proficient with tax software and technologies.
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax regulations and obligations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Taxation is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with a range of tax forms and requirements for different kinds of entities.
- Advanced certification such as CPA.
- Experience in a leadership role within a tax department.
- Proven track record of reducing clients' tax liabilities through effective tax planning and compliance.
- Deep analytical skills and attention to detail.
