Senior Tax Accountant

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs technical tax review and approval of all tax returns and governmental tax examinations of contemporary complexity.
  • Assumes full responsibility for the management of significant client tax filings, guiding a team of preparers appropriate to the scope of each project.
  • Demonstrates proficient expertise in the newest tax practices adequate for client advisement.
  • Ensures compliance with budgetary constraints and timelines for client engagements.
  • Delegates and oversees the completion of tax research projects to ensure they meet quality standards and client expectations.
  • Represents clients before taxing authorities as needed, managing all facets of the process.
  • Maintains a comprehensive knowledge of tax laws and updates, ensuring all team members are educated on the latest tax practices and standards.
  • Supervises, trains, and supports tax department staff, fostering a productive learning environment.
  • Develops training programs for all levels of tax staff, reinforcing firm standards and providing growth opportunities.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • A minimum of two years of progressive experience in public accounting with a reputable firm.
  • At least one year of proven experience in supervising and leading a team of tax preparers.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting is mandatory.
  • Strong proficiency with tax software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Solid communication and leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Master’s degree in Taxation is highly preferred.
  • Experience with both SEC clientele and closely held companies.
  • Prior experience in client facing roles and capable of handling high net worth client portfolios.
