Senior Systems Engineer
Job Description
In this role, you will report directly to the IT Engineering & Design Manager. This is a position that will require direct contact with internal and external customers to receive or define system requirements and functionality, and from this data create design specifications and project schedules. The nature of work is highly technical and may involve project leading. This role requires a significant amount of situation analysis, problem solving, resourcefulness, and judgment. This will also frequently require the development of alternative approaches for problem resolution. Work goes beyond the scope of past practice or precedent. Innovation, adaptation, and significant independent judgment may be required in performance of activities. Impact of problem resolution may be both immediate and longer term. Ability to be creative and work un-supervised, in a high-pressure, results-oriented environment required.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- MCSE (2000 or 2003) is a must
- Minimum of 5-8 years experience in IT
- Minimum of 5 years experience working in a Windows NT/2000/2003 environment
- Strong Exchange Server and Active Directory experience
- Demonstrated implementation experience within the past four (4) years in one or more of the following: Windows Server 2000/2003, Exchange 2000/2003, Active Directory 2000/2003, DNS, IIS, Citrix
- Unix (Linux, Irix, or Solaris) and OpenVMS experience preferred.
- Experience configuring cluster and stand alone servers, peripherals, layered products and system management utilities for Windows, Linux and OpenVMS
- Degree in Computer Science or related area; or a diploma in computing, plus relevant experience.
- Relevant certifications for systems management with Windows (MCSA), Linux or OpenVMS
- Strong communication skills, customer service, prioritization, organizational, problem solving and troubleshooting skills
