About out Client:

Our Client is a Global top Construction company is looking for a Senior System Administrator (IT). This is a FullTime Permanent position reporting to their Toronto Office


  • Design, configure, deploy, monitor, analyze, patch, repair and optimize systems including servers (physical and virtual) and their associated operating systems, hardware, software, peripherals, services, settings, directories, and related infrastructure (e.g storage and backup units), in accordance with SLAs, KPIs, and security best practices. As required, provide day to day operations support and system administration tasks.
  • Perform research into and analysis of infrastructure technologies to identify, propose and implement innovative, cost-effective solutions to improve systems operations and support business growth. Provide technical guidance, advice, and recommendations to assist in infrastructure technology decisions, directions, strategy and roadmap.
  • Work with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to improve existing systems and services and ensure SLAs and KPIs are met. Supervise and mentor level 1 and 2 technicians and outsourced support teams. Review contracts, and work and negotiate with vendors.
  • Respond to assigned tickets and provide 3rd/4th level support. Analyze and resolve infrastructure issues in a timely and accurate fashion, find Root Causes for the issues, define action plans to address Root Causes, and document resolutions for future reference. Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies. Provide emergency on call 24 hour / 7 days a week support as required
  • Define and develop plans for projects implementing infrastructure solutions and assist in providing required infrastructure support to business projects. Manage projects, including technical, financial, resource, change, and people-related aspects. Document and hand-off on-going operations of implemented solutions to outsourced or other relevant resources.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, testing, and maintaining disaster recovery plans. Develop and maintain technical documentation, configurations, solutions, diagrams, policies and procedures for the designated technology areas.


  • Strong analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with a broad range of people.
  • Strong server technical skills, including physical and virtualized servers (Microsoft/ VMWARE/ Citrix technologies), Windows Server architecture, Microsoft Exchange, IIS, backup-and-recovery tools, enterprise storage systems (EMC, HP), SANs, blade servers, data security and network architecture and topology, cloud migration and management.
  • Project management skills, including the development of budgets, schedules, and communication plans, as well as familiarity with and understanding of Project Management methodologies.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
  • Must be able to define problems, collect data, perform research, establish facts and draw defendable conclusions.
  • Must be able to interpret an extensive variety of technical information and abstract or concrete variables and determine appropriate measures or technology to increase systems effectiveness.
  • The person in this role must regularly solve complex, unusual or unique problems, providing solutions to issues arising out of the client's unique hardware and software environment. Original thinking is often required to assess, troubleshoot, and mitigate issues that arise on a regular basis
  • University degree in computer science or a related information technology field
  • Microsoft Certified System Engineer (MCSE), VMWare and Citrix certification desirable.
