Senior Rotating Equipment Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Rotating Equipment Engineer to take a proactive role in the technical handling and strategic upgrades of maintenance strategies within our operations. The chosen candidate will develop long-term plans for rotating equipment, ensuring reliability and performance through rigorous technical monitoring, root cause analysis, and implementation of Quality Assurance (QA) measures. This role is pivotal in maintaining and enhancing the operational integrity and safety of our critical equipment, making it a cornerstone of our technical team.

Salary: $150,000.00 - $165,000.00 per year

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and enforce operating procedures for critical rotating machinery, such as air and reciprocating compressors.
  • Lead as the Rotating Equipment Engineer during operational upsets and both planned and unplanned outages.
  • Risk assess and identify potential threats to the safe and stable operation of equipment, developing effective mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure continuous improvement in Equipment Care Strategies and support the RCM (Reliability Centered Maintenance) process.
  • Engage in root cause analysis for equipment failures and champion a Learning Mindset to prevent recurrence.
  • Develop Quality Assurance/Quality Control plans and oversee critical repairs to ensure high standards of maintenance.
  • Provide engineering support for vibrational analysis programs and oversee contract management with external contractors.
  • Support the design and execution of detailed decontamination plans to preserve the integrity of equipment during non-operational periods.
  • Proactively monitor the health of critical equipment, utilizing advanced monitoring systems to anticipate and prevent issues.
  • Coordinate with operations and maintenance teams to enhance equipment reliability and performance.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ industry experience, preferably with direct involvement in operational units.
  • Strong background in rotating equipment supplier management and oversight.
  • Proven expertise in vibrational diagnostics, with the capability to analyze and diagnose machinery vibration issues.
  • Extensive experience in plant turnarounds, including maintenance, startup, and shutdown operations.
  • Familiarity with managing OEM and contractor relationships, ensuring compliance and performance.
  • Demonstrated experience in health, safety, security, environment (HSSE), and quality management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Certifications related to maintenance and reliability, such as CMRP or CRE.
  • Experience leading cross-functional project teams toward achieving reliability and safety targets.
  • Specialized knowledge in surge testing and advanced predictive maintenance technologies.

  • Strong analytical skills in vibration analysis and condition monitoring.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, capable of mentoring and leading teams.
