We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Senior Quality Assurance Engineer to join our team in Waterloo, Iowa. In this crucial role, you will collaborate with project teams to ensure the highest quality standards are achieved through all phases of product development and manufacturing, from initial design to final delivery. You'll leverage your expertise in statistical data analysis to monitor and report on quality outcomes, while skillfully driving initiatives towards zero defects. This position offers a broad scope of responsibilities, including engagement with ongoing production quality issues, and is pivotal in advancing our mission of delivering top-quality products directly affecting the company's success.
Salary: $80,000 - $90,000 per year plus bonus
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and support design and process engineering teams in applying quality control disciplines within APQP to prevent defects in product and production processes.
- Analyze quality costs and their implications on profitability, recommending process and product enhancements to minimize losses.
- Champion the implementation of quality improvement measures such as engineering changes and product performance enhancements.
- Oversee the application of technical drawings and specifications in the manufacturing process to guarantee conformity to quality standards.
- Contribute to DFMEAs and PFMEAs, ensuring all potential failure modes are identified and addressed prior to production launch.
- Lead the development and implementation of detection and prevention devices needed in production, ensuring these are adequately costed during product development.
- Perform measurement system analysis, including gage R&R studies, to assess, calculate, and interpret test results while considering potential measurement errors.
- Facilitate and lead effective corrective action initiatives in response to production issues or customer impacts, aiming to mitigate repeated or high-impact defects.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related technical fields from an accredited college.
- Demonstrated experience with standard hand metrology equipment such as calipers, micrometers, and optical comparators.
- Strong working knowledge of ASME Y14.5M, GD&T principles, and understanding of the x, y, z coordinate systems.
- Experience with Quality Assurance methodologies and profound knowledge of Design and Manufacturing Processes.
- Proficiency in Quality Tools like APQP, MSA, SPC, FMEA, PPAP, and Process Capability Study.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Quality Engineer or Quality Technician certification is highly preferred.
- CMM machine operation and programming experience.
- Prior experience using Windchill software for data management and documentation.
