Senior Property Accountant – Hybrid (Atlanta / Perimeter Area)

This position offers 1 day work from home and reports to the corporate accounting team in the Perimeter area.


Position Overview

The Senior Property Accountant will serve as a key financial partner to Property Management, overseeing all aspects of general ledger activity and financial reporting for a portfolio of commercial real estate assets. This role ensures timely, accurate monthly closings and supports leadership with financial insights that drive operational performance.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform all general ledger and month-end closing duties for assigned properties using MRI or comparable property management software.

  • Prepare and review journal entries, including straight-line rent, accruals, depreciation, prepaid expenses, and other key balance sheet and income statement accounts.

  • Maintain detailed supporting schedules, reconciliations, and closing checklists for each property.

  • Review and validate accounts payable, cash receipts, and fixed asset activity to ensure completeness and accuracy.

  • Partner closely with Property Managers to analyze variances, review budgets and forecasts, and assist with annual operating expense recoveries.

  • Provide audit support and respond to internal and external requests with professionalism and accuracy.

  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives and assist with special projects as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required

  • Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in commercial real estate

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with MRI and Nexus a plus

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently while meeting deadlines

  • High attention to detail and a proactive, team-oriented approach
