Senior Project Manager / Principal – Architecture
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager / Principal to lead and manage medium- to large-scale, complex commercial architectural projects from conception to completion. This role combines exceptional project management expertise with demonstrated leadership and business development experience.
The Senior Project Manager / Principal will oversee all aspects of project delivery—ensuring quality, timeliness, and client satisfaction—while also contributing to the firm’s continued growth through client relationship development and strategic business pursuits. This individual will work closely with project leaders and firm leadership to deliver outstanding projects and strengthen the firm’s reputation for excellence.
An excellent communicator and collaborator, this person excels at leading cross-functional teams, including internal staff, consultants, and clients. As the primary point of contact on assigned projects, they demonstrate outstanding stakeholder management skills and lead by example through the firm’s core values.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a wide range of innovative projects—from urban design and public spaces to residential and commercial developments. The team values sustainability, thoughtful design, and collaboration across all phases of project delivery.
Designers work collaboratively in-office Monday through Thursday, with flexibility to work remotely on Fridays.
Primary Responsibilities
Project Management
- Lead project teams through all phases of design and construction administration, primarily for medium to large-scale commercial projects.
- Work closely with project leaders to establish project objectives, identify risks, and implement mitigation measures.
- Serve as the primary client contact, maintaining clear communication and ensuring expectations are met throughout the project.
- Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and resource allocation to ensure successful delivery.
- Manage and coordinate project teams, including internal staff, consultants, and construction managers.
- Implement rigorous quality assurance processes through all project phases (QC reviews, design reviews, budget checks, etc.).
- Review and approve pay applications, invoices, and change orders.
- Lead project meetings, develop agendas, and distribute meeting minutes.
- Negotiate and review contracts with clients, contractors, and consultants to ensure alignment with project and business objectives.
Leadership & Mentorship
- Serve as a group leader and mentor, fostering the growth and development of team members.
- Lead performance reviews, set professional development goals, and support team growth.
- Encourage collaboration, recognize accomplishments, and guide improvement areas.
Business Development & Firm Leadership
- Develop, nurture, and close new business opportunities aligned with the firm’s strategic goals.
- Strengthen relationships with current clients while identifying new markets and partnerships.
- Contribute to firm-wide strategic planning and operational initiatives.
- Serve as a visible representative of the firm in the community and professional networks.
- Partner with firm leadership to refine project management processes, tools, and best practices.
- Participate in shaping the long-term vision of the firm, with the potential for future advancement into senior leadership based on performance and fit.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture (or equivalent experience).
- Architectural licensure preferred but not required.
- 10+ years of professional experience managing medium to large-scale commercial architectural projects.
- Demonstrated success in business development, including identifying, pursuing, and closing new client opportunities.
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
- Strong stakeholder management and negotiation abilities.
- Strategic thinker with a solutions-oriented mindset.
- Proficiency with project management and design tools (e.g., Procore, Deltek/ERP systems, Bluebeam, Revit).
