Senior Project Development Engineer - ESCO Services
Remote with Florida base
Frequent travel required (approximately 20%–40%), including overnight stays


Our client is seeking a Senior Project Development Engineer to join its team, supporting projects throughout Florida.



Overview

The Senior Project Development Engineer serves as the primary technical project developer and technical authority for assigned projects. As the central resource for technical expertise, Account Executives and regional leadership rely on Senior Project Development Engineers to understand client technical objectives and translate them into accurate, executable solutions.

This role addresses a wide range of technical challenges, including facility utility consumption analysis and reduction strategies, capital improvement planning, and large-scale community or infrastructure-based performance projects.

The Senior Project Development Engineer is responsible for developing technical strategies, project costing, energy savings forecasting where applicable, and measurement and verification planning. The role includes presenting technical findings and recommended solutions to customers and internal stakeholders, as well as supporting project delivery teams to ensure successful installations and high-quality outcomes. Key responsibilities include evaluating technical and delivery risk related to constructability, scope, cost, and performance guarantees.



Responsibilities
  • Conduct in-depth site surveys to identify mechanical and operational inefficiencies; analyze utility data and financials; collaborate with contractors to develop technically sound and cost-effective solutions
  • Facilitate clear communication among internal teams, subcontractors, and customers through written and schematic technical documentation that conveys solutions, assumptions, and risk
  • Perform energy savings calculations, operational savings analysis, life-cycle cost analysis, and feasibility assessments; establish guaranteed savings based on proposed measures
  • Develop financial models based on customer parameters and project development assumptions
  • Coordinate with Account Executives and Project Managers to develop and present technical proposals to customers
  • Partner with Project Managers during implementation to support smooth installation and serve as the technical liaison between sales and operations teams
  • Identify and collaborate with subcontractors and consultants to support technical analysis, installation scope, and quality assurance
  • Review and approve equipment selections prior to procurement to ensure estimate accuracy and schedule alignment
  • Evaluate technical risk related to feasibility, constructability, scope, cost, and performance guarantees
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of energy systems and facility operations; serve as an ongoing technical resource and advisor to customers


Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited (or equivalent) Engineering program
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant engineering experience in energy, mechanical, or building systems
  • Demonstrated experience in performance contracting, energy engineering, or complex project development
  • Ability to lead technical scope, independently develop solutions, and support customer-facing presentations
  • Experience performing ASHRAE Level III / Investment Grade Energy Audits
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
  • One or more of the following certifications: CEM, CMVP, LEED, NEBB, TAB, or any ASHRAE certification
