Position Summary: This position is responsible for performing duties required to operate computer aided design (CAD) equipment to prepare design drawings of complex plumbing products such as drains, fixtures, supports, interceptors, tools, fixtures used in production, specifications & other engineering reference data with input from Sales Eng. Responsible for creating & approving new & special order product designs, resolving manufacturing problems & training & assisting all junior employees. The position is also responsible for assigning work & has secondary supervision of employees when the Supervisor of Product Engineering as out of the once.

Formal Education: Two (2) year Associate degree in Drafting/Design, Manufacturing, Instrumentation, Computer Science, or and Job-Related related field.

Experience:
  • Analyze, research and develop design solutions for new and special orders, products in the most cost-effective manner.
  • Assist other departments with design related problems.
  • Keep current with developments with Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) software, available computer tools and manufacturing processes to increase efficiency.
  • Perform electronic and manual file maintenance.
  • Develop work orders for pattern shop.
  • Investigate shop or field complaints and research historical data as required.
  • Maintain work area, equipment and supplies in a neat and orderly condition.
  • Follow safety rules.
  • Identify and report problems and difficulties to department supervisor.
  • Work with manufacturing to develop and implement most effective work processes to ensure
  • products are manufactured in accordance with design specifications.
  • Recommend technical and design changes to improve design, quality, operating performance and cost of manufacture.
  • Formulate and visualize design concepts based on sketches and other data.
  • Create basic product structures and operate E.W.H. databases.
  • Determine requirements for capacities, operating requirements, material sections and type of construction, checking and calculating specifications and establishing acceptable tolerances.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems in the manufacturing processes and time schedules.
  • Train and assist junior employees in daily procedures and duties.
  • Ensure design records are kept current and the information is accurate.
