We are seeking a Senior Plumbing/Fire Protection Engineer – Department Leader to join our firm. We are looking for a candidate with a minimum of 10 years' experience in Plumbing/Fire Protection design of Healthcare and a minimum of 5 years' experience in Project Management.

Job Responsibilities

As a Senior Plumbing/Fire Protection Engineer – Department Leader, you will coordinate and assign various projects to be performed by the Engineering team.
You will be responsible for establishing design standards, providing technical reviews, specifications, and criteria for projects.

Design and oversight would require experience in:
• Sanitary, storm and venting
• Domestic water systems including booster pumps and water heating systems
• Medical gas design
• Sustainable design including low flow fixture, water reclaim and gray water systems
• Fire Protection design including performance specifications, risers, Fire Pump and head layouts
• Revit LOD standards and Content

Additional Responsibilities:
• Supervising and leading the Plumbing/Fire Protection Department
• Delegating workload and supervising staff members as they perform their tasks
• Supervising preparation of reports and analysis of system options and building conditions
• Maintaining interdisciplinary coordination with other trades/projects consultants
• Participating in budgeting, scheduling, and staff management
• Manage the engineering staff and staff projects adequately and efficiently
• Monitoring all correspondence between staff, clients, contractors, owners, etc.
• Partnering with senior leadership in the preparation of proposals and scope of work documents
• Partnering with senior leadership for business development and project pursuits
• Managing construction administrative duties such as field reports, responses to RFIs, processing bulletins and addenda, etc.
• Directing sustainable design efforts and reviewing results
• Performing staff resource management and review, as needed
• Mentoring junior level employees and helping them develop in their professional careers

Project Management responsibilities include:
• Assuming responsible charge for the overall economic well-being of the assigned projects
• Establishing project budgets and schedules and delivering projects on schedule and within budget
• Communicating with clients in an engaging manner
• Participating in QA/QC process of completed work by staff
• Maintaining client satisfaction and project efficiency
• Communicating regularly with Client Leaders and Project Managers of other services who may be managing other projects for your same client

Job Requirements
This role requires a highly skilled Plumbing/Fire Protection Engineer with in-depth knowledge of Plumbing, Medical Gas and Fire Protection systems, including all applicable building codes and industry standards. In addition to strong engineering skills, you will need a high degree of interpersonal and relationship building skills to be successful in this position.
