Shepherd Staff is honored to be working with Eastside Baptist Church in Shelby, NC as they search for their next Senior Pastor. Eastside is seeking a leader who will inspire through preaching and teaching, embodying a life of prayer and exemplary Christian living. Responsibilities extend from visiting the sick and counseling individuals to leading worship services, promoting missions, and collaborating with local churches. This is a great opportunity to shepherd a well-established church in a growing community just west of Charlotte, NC.


The ideal candidate will be:

  • An ordained Baptist minister.
  • A graduate of an accredited college and seminary with a Master of Divinity or the equivalent.
  • Demonstrate a high standard of moral and ethical character in keeping with the calling of Jesus Christ.


Responsibilities:

  • As spiritual leader of the church:
    • Proclaim God’s Word through preaching and teaching, growing out of a life committed to study and prayer.
    • Live an exemplary Christian life before the church and community.

  • As pastoral leader of the church:
    • Lead the church in a caring ministry for persons in the church and the community.
    • Lead the deacon’s in the deacon family ministry program.
    • Personally visit the sick, the shut-in, current members, and prospective members.
    • Counsel and advise individuals regarding spiritual matters as requested.

  • As the educational leader of the church:
    • Administer an effective discipleship program within the church in collaboration with ministry staff, through established programs and new initiatives as needed.
    • Evaluate the effectiveness of all discipleship programs.

  • As worship leader of the church:
    • Plan and lead congregational worship services in collaboration with ministry staff.
    • Perform weddings and funerals.
    • Lead the church in the ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper.

  • As the missional leader of the church:
    • Lead and be active in missions and outreach.
    • Promote missions among church members.
  • As a community representative of the church:
    • Work with the local, state, national, and international Baptist associations as appropriate.
    • Nurture cooperation and collaboration among local Christian churches.
  • As administrative leader of the church:
    • Lead the church in financial stewardship and fulfillment of an annual budget.
    • Supervise all staff and paid personnel.
    • Perform annual evaluations of all staff.
    • Conduct weekly staff meetings.
