Position Summary

Magellan Aerospace Processing, New York (West Babylon) has an exciting new opportunity for an Senior Painter. The successful incumbent will be responsible to follow route card instruction on the mixing and application of all products being use. The Senior Painter must ensure all work is preformed per customer request and or specifications by the product manufacturer and follow all plant policies and procedures. Please note this position operates during the night shift from 4:30pm to 1:00am. The pay range is $22/hr - $33/hr.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Follow route card instruction on the mixing and application of all products being use
  • Ensure all work is preformed per customer request and or specifications by the product manufacturer and follow all plant policies and procedures
  • Determine the kind of tools and equipment needed
  • Control operations of painting equipment.
  • Inspect and evaluate the quality of surface finishes
  • Clean surfaces to be painted
  • Isolate painted/unpainted areas (i.e. masking, etc.)
  • Match or detect differences between colors, including shades of color and brightness
  • Perform all other job related duties as requested.
  • Advises Lead Painter of any unusual conditions.
  • Ensures that all equipment and work areas are kept clean, neat and orderly at all times.
  • Advises Lead Painter of all work orders and/or projects currently being worked on,

Position Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Associate’s degree or higher in a manufacturing discipline or a graduate of a trade school preferred
  • 2+ years of working in a paint shop environment preferably
  • Experienced with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel preferred
  • Ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists
  • Able to quickly make coordinated movements of the arm, wrist, hand and fingers to grasp and manipulate objects.
  • Ability to read and understand information and ideas written in English
  • Spanish knowledge would be a plus
  • Keep informed and updated on current techniques and technical methods.
  • Maintain a constant awareness of safety and accident prevention.
  • Basic mathematical skills
