Job Description

The Senior Oracle Database Administrator will ensure high availability, security, disaster, recovery readiness, and optimal performance across mission-critical systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, configure and upgrade Oracle Databases.
  • Manage Oracle RAC, Data Guard (physical & logical standby), ASM, RMAN, and Oracle Enterprise Manager.
  • Perform routine database maintenance, including patching, applying security updates, and managing database objects.
  • Monitor and optimize database performance using AWR, ADDM, ASH, SQL Tuning, and indexing strategies.
  • Implement best practices for SQL performance and application scalability.
  • Develop and manage RMAN backup strategies, backup automation, and recovery testing
  • Configure and maintain Oracle Data Guard and Active Data Guard environments.
  • Ensure disaster recovery readiness through backup validation and failover testing
  • Manage user access, roles, privileges, and authentication controls.
  • Implement database auditing, encryption (TDE), and security hardening where appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks.
  • Design and implement database solutions for new applications.
  • Participate in capacity planning, storage optimization, and infrastructure scaling.
  • Develop shell scripts / Python scripts for administration and reporting.
  • Provide 24/7 on-call support for critical database issues.
  • Work closely with developers, system administrators, and business teams.
  • Mentor and guide junior DBAs and technical staff.

Technical Competencies
  • Experience using code management tools.
  • Experience with entity design, database structures, and Oracle data dictionary.
  • Analytical mindset and good problem-solving skills.
  • Experience creating relational data models and flow diagrams.
  • Good in Oracle SQL and PL/SQL programming experience.
  • Experience writing Oracle REST API’s.
  • Experience in performance tuning SQL and PL/SQL.
  • Knowledge of Oracle Apex.
  • Strong knowledge of Linux operating system and system architecture.
  • Ability to identify system issues and resolve them through a structured troubleshooting process
  • Understanding of networking processes.
  • Good knowledge of storage systems (SAN)

Qualification and Education
  • Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Oracle Certified Professional.
  • Ability to design and implement a bash script for automation.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in database administration
