Job Description

  1. TASKS

The resource must perform the following tasks under this Task Authorization:

5.1 Provide administration, technical and engineering support to CJWC’s distributed network capabilities (CFXNet, CFBLNet, US JTEN and the enclave networks that use them as transport);

5.2 Implement hardware and software access controls to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, availability and security of the networks and C4ISR systems;

5.3 Provide network support to the NOC, JBL and ITB in support of exercises, experimentation, training, and demonstrations employing a wide variety of military C4ISR systems and applications;

5.4 Provide installation and configuration of network infrastructure (e.g. points-of-presence, routers, switches) across Canada;

5.5 Produce various DoDAF and DNDAF products;

5.6 Prepare network topology, engineering and design diagrams;

5.7 Prepare site accreditation documentation;

5.8 Develop IP mapping schema;

5.9 Monitor network performance and provide recommendations for improvements;

5.10 Test networks and systems to identify vulnerabilities;

5.11 Research security and software devices as directed in security related projects;

5.12 Perform tasks related to network operations and security, including administration of Wide Area Networks (WANs) and Local Area Networks (LANs). Responsibilities include managing multicasting, virtual LANs (VLANs), TACACS (Terminal Access Controller Access-Control System), access control lists, IP subnetting, OSPF and BGP routing protocols, GRE tunnels, and configuring or reconfiguring routing protocols. Additional duties involve preventive maintenance such as router optimization, support for Cisco VoIP phones, and the creation of technical documentation and network diagrams.

5.13 Troubleshoot connectivity and hardware issues for all networks in the JCIS area of responsibility;

5.14 Communicate technical solutions with other technical staff in support of multiple and concurrent experiments, development campaigns and training sessions;

5.15 Create, maintain and review documentation of designs, configurations and operations, and provide recommendations on the support documentation for the CFXNet, the NOC, the JBL and the ITB;

5.16 Develop standard operating procedure documentation;

5.17 Provide a monthly activity report that summarizes all activities and deliverables for the month; and

5.18 Demonstrate a complete skillset in network infrastructure deployment by configuring a non-production environment for testing configuration changes prior to release to the production environment, the first day on site.

MC-1

The proposed resource must meet one of the following:

· A minimum of ten (10) years of experience within the last fifteen (15) years configuring, installing, and troubleshooting routers, switches, and firewalls in a Wide Area Network (WAN) or Local Area Network (LAN) environment

OR

· A minimum of five (5) years of experience within the last fifteen (15) years configuring, installing, and troubleshooting routers, switches, and firewalls in a WAN or LAN environment, AND a university degree in computer science or network engineering, a college diploma in a related field, or a valid Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification

The experience must include tasks involving VLAN management, access control lists (ACLs), IP subnetting, OSPF, and BGP routing protocols, and GRE tunnels
