Our client is an independent energy services and infrastructure company that helps clients improve facilities, address deferred maintenance, and modernize systems. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer based in Pittsburgh, you will play a critical role in identifying, developing, and executing mechanical system upgrade projects—from HVAC and central plants to controls and building infrastructure. You’ll support both business development and project delivery, applying your technical expertise to shape solutions that are practical, cost-effective, and client-focused.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identify and scope mechanical upgrade opportunities in client facilities (HVAC, piping, plumbing, controls, central plants).
- Conduct facility assessments to uncover operational improvements and modernization opportunities.
- Support sales and proposal teams with technical input, preliminary designs, and project strategies.
- Develop and review designs, equipment selections, and technical specifications.
- Provide construction oversight, commissioning support, and troubleshooting during implementation.
- Assist in identifying energy savings opportunities as part of broader mechanical project solutions (but not limited to energy audits).
- Participate in client meetings and presentations, explaining complex technical concepts in a clear, client-friendly way.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the technical growth of the team.
- Ensure all work adheres to safety, quality, and client standards.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline).
- 7+ years of mechanical engineering experience, ideally with HVAC, building systems, and infrastructure projects.
- PE license preferred (or ability to obtain).
- Strong background in system design, retrofit/renovation projects, and construction practices.
- Familiarity with building automation systems (BAS) and central plant operations.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and engineering tools (AutoCAD, Revit, or similar).
