Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (Confidential Company)

Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday

Position Summary

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer leads the design, development, validation, and continuous improvement of complex mechanical products and systems from concept through production. This role works closely with cross-functional teams to ensure products meet customer expectations, regulatory requirements, manufacturing objectives, quality standards, and cost targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead new product development and engineering improvement projects.
  • Develop mechanical assemblies and components using 3D CAD tools and engineering analysis.
  • Apply APQP methodologies including DFMEA, feasibility reviews, control plans, and risk assessments.
  • Evaluate technical alternatives and recommend optimal engineering solutions.
  • Prepare drawings, specifications, BOMs, and engineering documentation.
  • Support prototype builds, validation testing, and production launch activities.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, purchasing, supply chain, sales, and suppliers.
  • Implement product improvements, cost reduction initiatives, regulatory updates, and obsolescence solutions.
  • Provide technical support for manufacturing, field service, and customer issues.
  • Research emerging technologies and recommend improvements to design, quality, cost, and delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • 5-10 years of mechanical product design experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of APQP and product development processes.
  • Experience with CAD and PLM systems.
  • Excellent communication, organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and industry standards.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship.

Occasional overnight travel (less than 5%).
