Overview

The Senior Marketing Director, Direct Response is responsible for driving measurable, profitable growth through performance-driven marketing programs. This role owns customer acquisition and revenue-generating campaigns across paid media and owned channels, with a relentless focus on ROI, testing, optimization, and scale.

The ideal candidate is both strategic and hands-on—deeply fluent in direct response principles, analytics, and conversion optimization, and comfortable operating in fast-paced, results-oriented environments.


Key Responsibilities

Direct Response Strategy & Execution

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive direct response marketing strategy aligned with revenue, customer acquisition, and profitability goals.

  • Own full-funnel performance from impression to conversion, including media efficiency, landing page performance, and post-acquisition value.

  • Translate business goals into clear channel plans, budgets, and forecasts.

Paid Media & Channel Management

  • Lead paid acquisition across channels such as paid search, paid social, display, video, affiliates, and emerging performance platforms.

  • Manage media planning, buying, optimization, and scaling with a strong test-and-learn mindset.

  • Partner with agencies and platform reps to drive innovation and efficiency.

Creative & Conversion Optimization

  • Collaborate closely with Creative and Product teams to develop high-performing ads, offers, and landing pages.

  • Lead ongoing A/B testing of messaging, formats, offers, and user experience.

  • Ensure creative development is informed by performance data and customer insights.

Analytics, Attribution & Measurement

  • Define and track KPIs including CAC, CPA, ROAS, LTV, and payback period.

  • Partner with Analytics to ensure accurate attribution and performance reporting.

  • Use data to identify opportunities, diagnose performance issues, and guide investment decisions.

Lifecycle & Revenue Expansion (as applicable)

  • Coordinate with CRM and Lifecycle teams to improve onboarding, retention, and reactivation.

  • Align acquisition strategies with downstream customer value and lifetime revenue.

Team & Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing direct response team.

  • Work cross-functionally with Creative, Product, E-commerce, Finance, and Analytics teams.

  • Present results, insights, and recommendations to senior leadership.


Qualifications

Experience

  • 8–12+ years of direct response or performance marketing experience.

  • Proven track record of scaling acquisition while maintaining or improving efficiency.

  • Experience managing significant paid media budgets.
