The Role: Senior Manager of Compensation and Benefits
In this role, you'll be inheriting a dedicated six-person total rewards team, including a seasoned 20-year Compensation Manager and a 15-year Benefits Manager at the same company. While they bring vast experience and the loyal team bedrock of all rewards, we need your executive presence, cohesive team leadership, total rewards strategy, and creative thinking to lead this team to new heights.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement global total rewards strategies that align with our organizational goals and objectives.
- Program Management: Lead the design, implementation, and management of compensation and benefits programs, including hourly, salary, and executive compensation, base salary, variable pay, and equity plans.
- Compliance and Evaluation: Ensure all total rewards programs comply with relevant laws and regulations, and continuously evaluate their effectiveness.
- Vendor Management: Manage relationships with external partners and negotiate contracts.
- Recognition and Engagement: Develop and implement recognition programs to boost employee engagement and retention.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with HR business partners and other stakeholders to integrate total rewards programs into broader HR and business strategies.
- Communication and Training: Develop and deliver training on total rewards programs to various stakeholders.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in HR, business, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Experience: 10+ years in compensation and benefits, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Skills: Strong analytical, communication, leadership, and strategic thinking skills. Proficiency in compensation and benefits software and tools.

- Strategic Thinking: Ability to align compensation and benefits programs with the company’s overall business strategy.
- Analytical Skills: Evaluate compensation data and develop effective programs based on data analysis.
- Communication: Clearly communicate complex information to a wide range of stakeholders.
- Leadership: Manage a team effectively and foster a collaborative work environment.
- Change Management: Implement new programs and overcome potential barriers.
- Technical Proficiency: Experience with HRIS and compensation tools preferred.

- Location: Based in our corporate headquarters near Stephens City, VA.
- Work Environment: Typical office environment with flexible work hours. Occasional weekend or evening work and up to 8% national travel required.
