We are looking for a Senior Job Cost Accountant to work for our client. The ideal candidate aligns with the responsibilities and qualifications outlined below.

This is a great opportunity for a detail-driven accounting professional to take ownership of project/job costing functions, playing a key role in ensuring accurate financial tracking across active projects, in a hybrid role based in Columbus, OH.

Responsibilities

• Track, analyze, and report on job costs across active projects, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
• Prepare and review job cost reports, comparing actual costs to budgeted/estimated costs
• Reconcile work-in-progress (WIP) schedules and ensure proper revenue recognition
• Partner with project managers to monitor project budgets and flag cost variances
• Support month-end and year-end close processes related to job costing
• Assist with the preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP
• Maintain and improve job costing systems, processes, and reporting templates
• Support internal and external audit requests related to project accounting
• Identify opportunities to improve cost tracking accuracy and reporting efficiency

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 4+ years of accounting experience, with hands-on job costing/project accounting experience
• Strong understanding of WIP schedules, percentage-of-completion, and job costing methodologies
• Proficiency with accounting/ERP and job costing software
• Advanced Excel skills, including experience with complex reporting and reconciliations
• Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with project management teams
