Senior Investment Officer
Job Description
An innovative investment company in Ghana who is into financing Micro, Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (MSMEs) engaged in the business of agriculture and/or renewal energy seeks to employ a Senior Investment Officer. He or she will be responsible for identifying investment opportunities, evaluating applications and financial due diligence as well as developing financial models and memos.
Reports to: Head of Investment
Deal Origination and Research
- Develop and update economic and agricultural industry reports with specific emphasis on employer’s key value chains.
- Facilitate deal origination by conducting market research and promoting the Company’s products and services to potential clients, where required.
Due Diligence, Approvals, and Disbursements
- Evaluate applications and conduct financial and commercial due diligence on potential investee companies.
- Develop financial models and prepare investment memos on potential clients for funding consideration.
- Collate all information required from investee companies as part of conditions precedent to disbursement.
- Conduct financial due diligence on treasury fund investee banks.
Reporting
- Prepare portfolio reports detailing performance, exposures, concentrations, and other portfolio characteristics.
Other Duties
- Participate in relevant conferences, meetings, forums and other discussion platforms.
- Develop and maintain good relations with clients, potential clients, and relevant stakeholders.
- Any other duties as required by the Head of Investment.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Over 7 years’ professional experience in corporate finance, venture capital/private equity, impact investing/fund management, consulting or related industry.
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/ Commerce, Finance, Accounting or a related discipline. An advanced degree and/or a relevant professional certification will be an advantage.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in financial modeling and valuation.
- Excellent knowledge of financial markets, investment strategies, and risk management principles.
- Knowledge of financial economics and a comprehensive understanding of the Ghanaian banking environment.
- Ability to work well in a team and under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask and work independently with little supervision.
- Proven knowledge of investment regulations and compliance requirements in Ghana.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to produce clear and concise business reports and presentations.
- Flexible and willing to travel across rural Ghana, and outside of Ghana, where necessary.
