Senior Infrastructure Specialist
Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Infrastructure Specialist to join our team in Winnipeg. Reporting to the Director, IT Operations, the Sr. Infrastructure Specialist in an integral component of the Information Technology team. This role will also be a key contributor and SME for any BAU or Transformational Projects and the associated infrastructure tasks required as assigned by their leader through normal ticket requests, or via the Program/Project Manager.
The Senior Infrastructure Specialist will:
Subject Matter Expert- Provide technical knowledge to internal stakeholders, IT Leadership, and team members regarding IT Infrastructure Systems, areas of improvement, and technical issues
- Understand and communicate how the business makes use of supported technology in all areas and provide business impact analyses when systems are offline or underperforming
- Provide after-hours support/on-call support for priority users/issues, or for planned Infrastructure Systems maintenance activities as required.
- Ensure proper licensing and associated service contracts remain active and work with vendors to refresh quotes when services require renewal.
- Ensure that server, storage, backups, and other processes are monitored by IT-approved alerting software and that alerts are meaningful and actionable to maintain stable and robust operations.
- Manage resources (CPU, Disk, Memory) allocations appropriately and balance the business requirements with performance needs.
- Responsible for high level overview training, providing technical guidance, and ensuring processes are shared with other team members, or new members who join the Systems Team.
- Create, maintain, and share Infrastructure documentation as it relates to inventory, process, or 3rd Party/Vendor and Maintenance contracts
- Serve as a mentor for Tier 1 / 2 (HelpDesk) team members who are interested in pursuing higher skill sets in the areas of System
- Review, plan, and present process improvements as it relates to System Administration or Infrastructure support across all businesses to IT leadership team
- Responsible for understanding, documenting, and sharing best practice as it pertains to core infrastructure systems and/or processes.
- Create, document, and maintain collateral for new technologies and process implementation within the environment.
To be successful as a Senior Infrastructure Specialist with People Corporation, you will need:
- 10+ years of progressive experience of technical experience within a System Administrator/Infrastructure Specialist capacity.
- Post secondary education + continued professional/technical development required.
- Proven track record of success, leading, developing and implementing technology business solutions requiring knowledge and understanding of the industry.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills demonstrated by experience in building value add relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated knowledge of basic networking, data centre operations, server administration, backup/DR technologies, and application support whether Virtual or Physical and whether On Premise, Hybrid, or Cloud-based.
