Senior Fund Accountant

The Senior Fund Accountant position is with a top-tier Fortune 100 company. This position pays between $75 - 95K + 5-20% target bonus. Position is remote work from home with a requirement to go into the office when needed, estimated 1-2 days in office. We are looking for a Senior Fund Accountant to join a new team responsible for supporting a large client. The individual will help shape a new operating model in partnership with the client that promotes technology driven efficiency and controlled processes. Given the fund structure is relatively new to the market, our ambition is to become the operations and accounting industry leader for this type of fund. The Senior Accountant will be part of a dedicated client service team. The team will be responsible for both investment level and consolidated fund level accounting and reporting deliverables. This individual will assist coordinating fund reporting deadlines and deliverables, communicating with different internal and external stakeholders, and preparing and reviewing fund reporting templates. Both the fund and this team are expected to grow significantly over the coming years.

Job Description:

Essential duties and responsibilities:

Financial Statement & Budgets:
Support production of fund financial statements and other required financial information. Provides qualitative analysis and comments. Prepares periodic financial statements and assists with audit and tax preparation and audit review. Performs budgeting, forecasting, and reporting activities. Assist in designing and preparing client presentations relating to the fund. Completes in an accurate and timely manner.

Monitors Financial Performance:
Monitors, compiles, and may analyze financial data. Performs detailed review of monthly property level reports.

NAV Calculation:
Prepares, analyses, and reviews periodic NAV calculations. Updates and monitors daily trading, general ledger activity, and pricing of funds to ensure accuracy of daily NAV calculation.

Treasury Function:
Posts journal entries and money-movement transactions. Ensures all fund transactions are properly posted to an accounting system. Prepares and reconciles trial balances for assigned funds. In the US, supports the preparation of investment and positions reconciliations and daily reconciliation of cash balances. Performs periodic asset payment, cash, and corporate action reconciliations.

Customer Service:
Executes on processes and procedures, and constantly provides feedback on process improvement. Performs administrative tasks as required. Troubleshoots escalated issues and ensures internal and external customer requests are handled timely, accurately and with a focus on customer service.

Job requirements:

  • Bachelor or master’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Prior experience in fund level accounting preferred with real estate accounting or fund accounting software systems
  • Requires intermediate knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) regulations including intermediate knowledge of financial terms and principles to include accounting methods (cash, accrual, and full GAAP). Ability to calculate intermediate figures such as percentages, discounts, and/or commissions. Conducts intermediate financial analysis.
  • Experience with Non Traded REITs, Public REITs and/or open ended funds preferred.
  • Solid economics, math and analytical skills and ability to apply them in the pursuit of diverse situations.
  • Knowledge of real estate terms, definitions, and real estate analytical methodology.
  • Knowledge of Company financial systems as well as internal and external information sources. Intermediate knowledge of computer software and hardware (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite Products).
  • Ability to work in multiple accounting software applications, with Yardi platform experience strongly preferred.

  • Ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues from different countries and cultures.
