The Senior Fund Accountant position is with a top-tier Fortune 100 company. This position pays between $85-95K + 10-20% Bonus. Position is remote work from home with a requirement to go into the office when needed, meetings, etc. The company offers an outstanding corporate culture with lots of room for career advancement and an exceptional work life balance. We are looking for a Senior Accountant (Analyst) for a company where you will work in an ambitious and growing environment. Under supervision, you will support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting packages and other client reporting for property owner entities.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Financial reporting packages:
Supports production of property company reporting packages and other required financial information and analytics. Supports audit and tax preparation and audit review.
Monitors Financial Performance:
Prepares and compiles workpapers and financial data by performing detailed review of general ledger and other property owner reports.
Treasury Function:
Supports the daily activities of cash management. Prepares monthly bank reconciliations manually recording journal entries for reconciling items if needed. Reviews cash balances to avoid shortfalls. Helps prepare capital or loan draws for funding when needed and requested by client. Manages cash security deposits and major property related payments including but not limited to debt service, municipal taxes, real estate taxes and ground rent if applicable. Ensures fees payable to management company are calculated accurately and paid timely.
Risk Management:
Supports senior team members in the management of risk and compliance activities.
Lease Administration:
Review lease abstracts and lease recurring charge set up.
Systems:
Participates in systems testing and implementation-related tasks if necessary.
Job requirements:
- Decisions made with general understanding of procedures and company policies to achieve set results and deadlines. Responsible for setting own project deadlines within the limits of the instruction from the supervisor. Errors in judgment may cause short-term impact to clients, co-workers and supervisor.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required; CPA preferred.
- Minimum 6 years of accounting or auditing background with strong analytical, technical, and communication skills (written and oral) is required;
- 3-5 years of real estate accounting experience a plus.
- Previous experience working for a public accounting firm is highly desirable
- Knowledge of all entity information, documents, and structuring considerations, including relevant GAAP, IFRS, and US tax
- Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles as it relates to fair market value of real estate, and/or related investments.
- Ability to manage and complete multiple processes within tight deadlines while responding to various requests from many parties.
- A candidate must have strong research and analytical skills and current knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS.
- In addition, the applicant must have strong business skills to understand new topics and issues quickly, and communicate such matters to a global audience. Preference will be given to those candidates with experience in Commercial Real Estate Fund Accounting.
- Knowledge of accounting for senior mortgage and mezzanine investments a plus.
- Knowledge of REIT structures a plus
- Ability to effectively listen to co-workers and respond to their requests.
- Ability to understand and communicate in English, both verbally and written.
- Ability to and has sufficient knowledge of computer software currently utilized by the Company (Yardi).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills.
- Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers.
An additional requirement for this role is the ability to comply with COVID-19 health and safety protocols including COVID-19 proof of vaccination when required.
