Senior Functional Machine Safety Engineer
Job Description
Apollo Technical has an immediate need for a Senior Functional Machine Safety Engineer in the Atlanta GA area
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- At least 4 years of hands-on experience in designing, programming, and commissioning PLC and VFD systems
- Minimum 2 years of experience implementing functional machine safety systems
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with clients to evaluate hazards in new or existing equipment
- Develop a thorough grasp of how operations and maintenance teams interact with machinery
- Leverage insights on hazards and interactions to conduct comprehensive risk assessments
- Develop practical recommendations for risk mitigation that support seamless operations and maintenance without unnecessary disruptions
- Establish yourself as a subject matter expert in safety systems, while guiding project teams in producing essential documentation, work packages, timelines, and overseeing installations
Required Skills and Knowledge:
- Proficiency in hydraulics and pneumatics
Preferred Skills and Knowledge:
- TUV certification in Functional Machine Safety
- Familiarity with Ethernet/IP and other industrial networking protocols
- Background in maintenance for controls, pneumatics, hydraulics, and safety systems
Travel requirements are approximately 35–50%.
