Job Description

Apollo Technical has an immediate need for a Senior Functional Machine Safety Engineer in the Atlanta GA area

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • At least 4 years of hands-on experience in designing, programming, and commissioning PLC and VFD systems
  • Minimum 2 years of experience implementing functional machine safety systems

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with clients to evaluate hazards in new or existing equipment
  • Develop a thorough grasp of how operations and maintenance teams interact with machinery
  • Leverage insights on hazards and interactions to conduct comprehensive risk assessments
  • Develop practical recommendations for risk mitigation that support seamless operations and maintenance without unnecessary disruptions
  • Establish yourself as a subject matter expert in safety systems, while guiding project teams in producing essential documentation, work packages, timelines, and overseeing installations

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • Proficiency in hydraulics and pneumatics

Preferred Skills and Knowledge:

  • TUV certification in Functional Machine Safety
  • Familiarity with Ethernet/IP and other industrial networking protocols
  • Background in maintenance for controls, pneumatics, hydraulics, and safety systems

Travel requirements are approximately 35–50%.
