Senior Financial Analyst

SENIOR FINANCIAL ANALYST
MONTGOMERY, AL

POSITION SUMMARY:

Financial Analyst will prepare company’s business plans, forecasts and related variance analysis along with other related financial analysis studies and reports. As a Senior Analyst, this position will provide support and guidance to a more junior level financial analyst.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution/university with a preference in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics (and/or) relevant work experience.
  • 5-7 years of experience as a Financial Analyst in a manufacturing environment (preferred).
  • Experience preparing analysis and presentations
  • General understanding of accounting principles
  • Strong grasp of Microsoft Office applications, with an emphasis on Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent organizational skills & attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and perform in a deadline driven environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Plays key role in the preparation of analytical reports and tools including P&L and Cost Center Performance– interfacing with business units, functional leaders, and other stakeholders.
  • Utilizes financial modeling skills to assist Business Unit and Corporate leaders to develop comprehensive and detailed plans which are easily measurable to inform the business of near-term financial performance expectations.
  • Participates in the company's budgeting/forecasting process to include identifying cost savings efforts, tracking monthly performance, and analyzing, summarizing, and understanding variances to budget/forecast/prior year.
  • Regularly communicates with business unit leaders & department managers regarding expectations for preparation and review of budgets & forecasts, as well as actual results relative to expectations.
  • Prepares accurate reporting of variances and works with business unit/department managers to develop accurate internal reporting.
  • Ensuring that consistent practices are used to maintain integrity of financial data and related systems: researches and reconciles data analysis for accuracy.
  • Ad hoc core financial analysis and reporting responsibilities to support internal initiatives and projects focusing on driving efficiency & transparency.
  • Review operating results and prepare variance and trend analysis monthly
  • Prepares company’s business plan, monthly forecasts and variance analysis.
  • Manages capital budgets and appropriation requests.
  • Prepares monthly reporting packages for internal and external reporting.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: May supervise a lower level employee.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Primarily office work environment.

TRAVEL: Periodic travel may be required to a customer sites by car or plane.
