Job Description
Our client located in New York City (in the meat packing district) is looking to hire a Senior Financial Analyst on a direct hire basis. This Senior Financial Analyst position is a full time role and is on site. The standard hours are Monday – Friday 9:30am – 6pm (during the summer they have “Summer Fridays” so Fridays are half days). We are looking for a self-starter with a great attitude who enjoys solving problems and taking on challenges.
JOB TITLE: Senior Financial Analyst
Overview:
The Senior Financial Analyst (SFA) will assist the investment team and portfolio management team in conducting data and financial analysis and reporting. Engagements include examination of publishing royalties and monitoring of portfolio investment performance. The position entails work and activities that are of an extremely detailed and analytical nature, including the organization and manipulation of electronic data, maintenance, and organization of files, drafting report schedules and text and summarization of contracts.
The Senior Financial Analyst will assist in the preparation of financial reports that may include cash flow schedules, meeting packages, budgets, and investment analyses. The Senior Financial Analyst will need to understand and access systems from the various publishers, distributers, collections societies, and other administrative sources of income.
It is expected that the Senior Financial Analyst will have a point of view from researching industry trends, results of data analysis, market data and social media / lifestyle trends.
The Senior Financial Analyst will have a sense of urgency, keen eye for detail and ability to quickly shift gears without losing focus. They must have strong analytical skills, work well under pressure, and meet deadlines. Overall, they must be a disciplined self-starter with a can-do attitude, be proactive, resourceful and have strong follow through skills.
Responsibilities:
Data and analytics / portfolio management
- Maintain database of all song data, coordinating all music related IP with third party administrators
- Conduct deep dive analysis on catalog royalties comparing to internal and third-party forecasting models.
- Develop metrics to compare songs and catalogs across genres, time periods, earning strength, etc.
- Assist with integration of new catalogs and existing portfolio; ensure aligned and balanced approach to forecasts based on portfolio composition and performance.
Investment due diligence and catalog valuation
- Assist with monitoring pipeline of target catalogs.
- Download, clean, and organize key royalty data from target catalogs.
- Analyze existing cash flows and set up forecast models for future earnings.
- Research missing information from collected data.
Transaction support
- Support underwriting and execution for catalog investments; responsibilities include investment memorandum preparation and presentation, transaction structuring, and legal documentation.
Qualifications:
- Must have experience or knowledge in royalties specifically in music recording or publishing or movies. The royalties is background is super important.

Salary is based upon experience but the target is $80k plus a complete benefits package and bonus.
