OT/DT: OT at 1.6 - Daily OT, after 8 hours/day. DT on Sundays/Holidays

Travel Requirement: Up to 80%

Pay: $43-$57.5/hr (Negotiable)

Position Overview

The Senior Substation Technician will handle a wide range of substation service tasks including repairs, testing, and maintenance. This role requires an advanced understanding of transformers, substation construction, and related control systems.

You will be responsible for both in-shop and field testing of transformers, including Power Factor, excitation, and resistance testing in accordance with NETA/ANSI standards. The position also involves keeping mechanical systems operational, such as pumps, valves, and oil processing equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform troubleshooting and diagnostic testing on transformers using various testing methods and equipment, including partial assembly and component installation.
• Carry out acceptance testing and scheduled preventative maintenance following established testing protocols.
• Operate a variety of specialized electrical test equipment, such as: DOBLE Power Factor Testers, Megohmmeters, AC/DC volt-ohm meters, and additional handheld power/non-power tools.
• Be available for frequent overnight and multi-day assignments, as well as overtime work on evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays.

Qualifications

• Ability to pass DOT pre-employment drug screening and physical exam.
• Successful completion of a nationwide criminal background check.
• Possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Capable of lifting more than 50 lbs., climbing ladders, and standing for long periods.
• Flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays with little notice.
• CDL Class A license

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or GED (required).
• Solid foundation in electrical theory with relevant practical application (required).
• Military background is a plus.
