Senior Engineering Manager- Distribution Products

Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Engineering Manager- Power Distribution to lead a team responsible for custom electrical switchgear design. This role serves as a key link between engineering and manufacturing, ensuring that design packages, customer submittals, production drawings, and bills of materials are accurate, complete, and suitable for manufacturing.

The ideal candidate will bring strong technical knowledge of LV and MV switchgear, experience leading design engineers, and the ability to improve engineering processes, quality, and team performance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the electrical design engineering team supporting custom switchgear projects.
  • Assign engineering work, track project progress, and ensure customer and production deadlines are met.
  • Review drawings, bills of materials, and design documentation for accuracy, completeness, and manufacturability.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to design quality, engineering efficiency, and product deliverables.
  • Mentor, train, and develop design engineers while promoting accountability and ownership.
  • Ensure engineering staff follow internal design standards, processes, and preferred component practices.
  • Work closely with engineering leadership, operations, and local plant management to resolve design, staffing, or process issues.
  • Collaborate with production teams by regularly reviewing equipment in progress on the manufacturing floor.
  • Support customer meetings, technical discussions, factory tours, witness testing, and product testing activities.
  • Travel occasionally to customer sites or other Company locations for surveys, training, meetings, or project support.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant field.
  • 5+ years of design engineering experience with switchgear, power generation equipment, control systems, or similar power products.
  • 2+ years of experience leading, mentoring, or supervising design engineers.
  • Strong understanding of LV and MV switchgear applications from 120V to 38kV.
  • Experience with custom control systems and automation features used in power equipment.
  • Familiarity with UL listings, NRTL certifications, and related compliance requirements.
  • Experience supporting functional testing of electrical equipment.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
