Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the COO for a leading logistics provider serving the evolving needs of businesses in today’s same-day delivery world. Our client manages daily routed and on-demand delivery services across the country, with a dedicated team of professionals handling jobs of all shapes, sizes, timeframes, and locations. Through deep expertise in the automotive, ecommerce and medical industries, they drive visibility, flexibility, and predictability for their clients across the delivery spectrum from first call to the final mile and everywhere between.
The Senior Director of Network Operations will plan, direct, coordinate, and oversee all Network Operations’ activities in the organization, ensuring development and implementation of efficient operations and cost-effective systems to meet current and future/ the changing needs of the organization. Establish, implement, and communicate the strategic direction of the entire division. Identify, recommend, and implement new processes, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline organizational processes and use of resources and materials. Work with IT Department on technologies and systems to improve network operations. Ensure that departmental decisions and project plans such as those for staffing, development, organization, material efficiency, facility utilization, and services are in line with the organization’s business plan and vision. Establish, communicate, and implement operations-related policies, practices, standards, and security measures to ensure effective and consistent support and execution. Review and approve cost-control reports, cost estimates, and staffing requirements for projects. Recruit, interview, hire, and train director-level staff in the department, in coordination with the Human Resources Department. Oversee the daily workflow of the department. Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and meet company goals while supplying expertise and guidance on operations projects and systems. Collaborate with other divisions and departments to carry out organizational goals and objectives. Establish, adhere to, and administer the budget. Present periodic performance reports and metrics to the Chief Operations Officer and other members of the Leadership Team. Maintain knowledge of emerging trends in logistics and freight network operations management. Identify training needs and ensure proper training is developed and provided to all network operations staff.

Background Required:
  • Final Mile Senior Leadership (5 yrs)
  • Final Mile Operations (courier) (10 Yrs)
  • Experience growing an operations
  • P&L Management ($100 million)
  • Establish, execute and deliver principles, procedures, and best practices
  • Track record of process improvement
  • Metrics measurements (i.e. key performance indicators)
  • Staff management, training, and development
  • Independent contractor within final mile
  • Computer literate: Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, & Outlook
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or appropriate experience for this role
  • Travel: 50%
  • Residence: Remote (Eastern US, close to a major airport).
Background Preferred (but not required):
  • Six Sigma Green Belt
  • Advanced Degree –MBA or bachelor’s degree with Supply Chain, Logistics, or Transportation
