Position Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Engineering Manager for a global food and ingredients company.
The Senior Controls must be a self-starter, organized and detail oriented with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written and able to work well independently. Develops, maintains, documents and troubleshoots process control PLC’s, computers, servers, networks and programs for all Oilseed Processing facilities. Participate in the selection and installation of process controls and computers with interface to control instrumentation. Creates and maintains plant data collection and reporting systems. Programs Allen Bradley / Rockwell PLC’s in ladder logic and using AOI’s, create and maintain equipment tag database and configure HMI screens. Maintains documentation and records for the process control and computer systems. Collaborates and works with outside vendors, contractors, production and engineering. Performs work in a combination of both office and industrial environments depending on project needs. Maintains and promotes a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.

Background Required:
  • Controls automation of manufacturing equipment and processing (3 years)
  • Computers, electronics and PLC’s with a full understanding of interface between field instrumentation (3 years)
  • Allen Bradley PLC programming
  • Rockwell Historian/OSI Pi, PTC Thingworx and VantagePoint data collection and reporting systems
  • AutoCad
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Travel 30%
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineer, Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Residence: Mankato, MN
Background Preferred (but not required):
  • Agricultural, Food, Chemical or pharmaceutical processing
  • Other controls systems including DeltaV and Foxboro
  • SQL database administration
  • Microsoft Visual Studio and .NET programming
  • Understand and draw electrical wiring diagrams.
  • Continuous Improvement (i.e. Lean, Six-sigma)
