VMG is seeking an experienced Senior Cardiovascular Clinical Subject Matter Expert (SME) Advisor to provide strategic clinical and scientific guidance for a federal cardiovascular disease evaluation initiative. This part-time advisory position will support the development, implementation, and interpretation of a comprehensive program evaluation by ensuring that evaluation methodologies, findings, and dissemination products are clinically accurate, evidence-based, and relevant to cardiovascular public health practice. The Senior Cardiovascular Clinical SME Advisor will collaborate with multidisciplinary evaluation teams, epidemiologists, public health professionals, and federal stakeholders to strengthen evaluation quality and translate findings into meaningful recommendations that improve cardiovascular disease prevention and care.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise on evaluation design and conceptual framework.
• Review interview guides and data collection instruments for clinical relevance.
• Provide consultation on interpretation of findings.
• Review major reports, presentations, and dissemination products.
• Ensure consistency with current cardiovascular evidence and practice guidelines.
• Participate in occasional virtual technical meetings.

Required Qualifications

• M.D. or D.O. with board certification in Cardiology or Internal Medicine with substantial cardiovascular disease expertise.
• At least 10 years of experience in cardiovascular disease prevention, treatment, population health, or quality improvement.
• Demonstrated knowledge of community-based cardiovascular disease prevention and community-clinical linkages.
• Experience serving as a clinical advisor, investigator, or subject matter expert on research, program evaluation, implementation science, or quality improvement initiatives.
• Ability to provide expert review of evaluation design, findings, and dissemination products.
• Experience working across clinical, public health, and community-based settings.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with CDC, DHDSP, NHLBI, AHRQ, CMS, HRSA, or other federal cardiovascular/public health initiatives.
• Experience with community-based or health equity-focused cardiovascular interventions.
• Familiarity with mixed-methods, qualitative, or implementation evaluations.
• Experience translating research or evaluation findings into practice guidance.
• National professional leadership (AHA, ACC, etc.) and/or peer-reviewed publications.

Work Environment

• Part-time consulting position supporting a federal evaluation project.
• Primarily remote with participation in virtual meetings and technical consultations.
• Estimated period of performance: September 2026 through January 2028.
• Work includes periodic participation during project kickoff, evaluation design, implementation consultations, and review of final evaluation products.
• Position requires collaboration with multidisciplinary evaluation teams, federal clients, clinicians, researchers, and public health professionals.
• Occasional travel may be required based on project needs.
