Our Client Company is looking for a Senior Business Development Manager to join their Northeast team.
Overview:
As a Senior Business Development Manager, you will lead growth by building long-term client relationships and developing comprehensive, results-driven energy and infrastructure projects. You will carry the company’s messaging, branding, and value proposition into the New York market—identifying, qualifying, and co-developing solutions that align with each client’s goals and success metrics.
You’ll engage directly with C-suite executives and senior decision-makers in K–12, higher education, healthcare, and municipal markets, driving projects that help organizations achieve sustainability, resiliency, and fiscal responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Identify, pursue, and cultivate new client relationships through research, outreach, and market engagement.
- Develop and execute strategies that demonstrate the company’s value and measurable impact to clients.
- Refine messaging and value propositions to deliver customized solutions aligned with client objectives, budgets, and success benchmarks.
- Build compelling financial and business justifications, reprioritizing operational expenses and optimizing capital allocations.
- Develop bundled energy efficiency, infrastructure modernization, and renewable energy solutions with guaranteed outcomes.
- Integrate building electrification and sustainability strategies into project proposals
- Leverage grants, incentives, and creative financing structures such as Revenue Bonds, Capital Leases, Energy-as-a-Service (EaaS), and Public-Private Partnerships (P3).
- Partner with internal engineering, project development, and financial teams to develop accurate ROI and cash flow models.
- Maintain client engagement throughout project development, installation, and post-construction to ensure satisfaction and identify additional opportunities.
- Represent the company at trade shows, conferences, and industry events across the Northeast.
- Meet identified activity targets, sales objectives, and gross margin goals.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related field required; equivalent experience considered.
- 5+ years of consultative sales experience within energy services, sustainable infrastructure, or performance contracting.
- Demonstrated success selling large-scale, multi-million-dollar projects to public sector clients.
- Strong knowledge of design-build, ESPC, ESA/PPA, cooperative purchasing, piggybacking, and P3 contracting models.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Experience with state and federal procurement legislation, incentive programs, and funding structures.
- Strong financial acumen with the ability to develop business cases and ROI analyses.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; CRM experience preferred.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and client relationships simultaneously.
- Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Requirements
- Familiarity with state and federal procurement legislation, grants, and incentive programs.
- Ability to travel up to 50% across the Northeastern region, including overnight stays.
- Must pass background checks and pre-employment screenings.
