Job Description

As the Senior Audit Associate, you must be meticulous and analytical, with deep knowledge of auditing practices. Our client expects you to be reliable, with strong organizational skills, as well as expertise in risk management and compliance.

Roles And Responsibilities

  • Analyze the impact of the changing business environment on clients' business
  • Design and execute assurance procedures based on risk and materiality
  • Apply project management techniques to manage project timelines
  • Coach junior team members to achieve technical competency and efficient performance
  • Facilitate effective communication within the cross-functional and culturally diverse team
  • Identify areas for personal development to improve work performance
  • Identify clients' business and key risks
  • Identify ethical conflicts
  • Implement and provide input to the audit plan
  • Obtain audit evidence to corroborate information
  • Perform quality audits in compliance with professional standards; individually or as a team
  • Identify issues, propose resolutions to significant accounting and auditing issues, and discuss with engagement manager/partner to establish an action plan
  • Verify/review and test financial statements and supporting disclosures in accordance with applicable framework
  • Develop strong working relationships with clients by providing exceptional client service
  • Communicate with governments regarding information requests, assessments, and installments
  • Network in the local business community

Requirements

  • Work experience within a public practice
  • In-depth understanding of auditing and control practices
  • 18 months+ experience working as an auditor
  • Strong understanding of Canadian GAAP and GAAS.
  • Updated knowledge of applicable laws and regulations
  • Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel) and accounting software(s)
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Organizational and leadership abilities
  • Integrity and reliability
  • BSc/BA in Accounting, Commerce or Finance and Canadian CPA certification
  • Willingness to reside in Swift Current, SK (may consider Assiniboia, or Shaunavon)
  • Experience with accounting and tax software such as Caseware, Taxprep, Profile, Quickbooks, and Sage 50 is considered an asset.
  • Possession of a Canadian Social Insurance Number (SIN)
This position will be involved with audits at Rural Municipalities (RM), towns, city government, school districts, etc. As a result, less extended travel is involved - be home more!
