Senior Associate for Government Contracts

An esteemed AmLaw150 firm is actively seeking a highly skilled and proactive Government Contracts Associate to bolster our formidable team. This strategic role demands a seasoned professional with a robust background in government procurement law and regulations, offering a competitive salary in reward for expert legal services rendered. Salary: $350,000.00 - $550,000.00 per year

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Direct and manage the full cycle of bid protests to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
  • Advise and implement cybersecurity measures in line with current acquisition regulations including FAR and DFARS.
  • Prepare and analyze Requests for Equitable Adjustments (REAs) and claims, and provide related claims analysis and counseling.
  • Handle Contract Disputes Act (CDA) claim litigation effectively, upholding the firm's standards of legal prowess.
  • Deal with federal subcontracting issues, ensuring compliance with flow-down requirements and dispute resolution.
  • Navigate the complexities of multiple award contracts and small business procurement to support client needs.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Law or a related field; Juris Doctorate preferred.
  • At least 4-5 years of experience in government contracts within a law firm setting.
  • Strong analytical and superior writing skills to effectively handle complex legal documents and cases.
  • Admission to the Virginia State Bar, or the ability to gain admission shortly after being hired.
  • Demonstrable track record of independent work on detailed and intricate matters.
  • Strong academic background from a recognized law school.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in industries such as aerospace/defense, infrastructure/construction, life sciences/pharmaceutical, or manufacturing.
  • A propensity for thought leadership through written and oral communications.
  • Interest in client development and commitment to progressing towards partnership.
