Senior Associate - Estate & Private Client Services

AmLaw 150 firm is seeking an experienced Senior Associate or Partner to join its Private Client Services Practice Group located in the Tallahassee office. This prestigious role focuses on estate planning, estate and gift taxation, and administration, offering services directly to individuals, charities, foundations, and corporate fiduciaries. Strengthen your career by working alongside a Florida Bar Board Certified Partner in Wills, Trusts, and Estates. Both practical experience and academic qualifications such as an LLM in Tax or Estate Planning, while preferred, are not mandatory.

Salary: DOE per year

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop tailored estate plans fitting the specific needs of clients, including wills, trusts, and business succession plans.
  • Provide expertise in estate and gift tax planning, preparation, and compliance, alongside efficiently structuring tax-impacted transactions.
  • Lead the administration of estates and trusts, ensuring compliance with terms, all applicable laws, and fiduciary obligations.
  • Advise and represent charitable organizations and foundations on tax-related issues and planned giving strategies.
  • Offer legal advice to corporate fiduciaries regarding their roles and responsibilities and estate and trust management.
  • Mentor and supervise junior attorneys and support staff within the team.
  • Conduct research and remain updated on the latest laws and regulations pertaining to private client services.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and member of the Florida Bar.
  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in estate planning and trust administration.
  • Demonstrated understanding of estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax laws.
  • Proven track record of managing complex client relationships and handling sensitive information.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to handle high caseloads effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in estate planning and probate law.
  • LLM in Taxation or Estate Planning.
  • Experience with international estate planning.
  • Prior experience in a leadership role within a law firm's private client or similar practice.
  • Florida Bar Board Certification in Wills, Trusts and Estates.
  • Public speaking ability on topics related to estate planning and trust law at seminars and conferences.
