Our client is a cornerstone in Canada’s healthcare system. As a large NGO, with a coast to coast mandate, our client boasts a workforce of over 350 staff. With a very forward thinking leadership team, this organization is has been at the front of business transformation and modernization and has perfected change and built corporate culture in a post covid environment. As a result, the finance team is looking to add a temporary AP Clerk to join their fantastic group.

The role of the Senior Accounts Payable specialist will report into the Corporate Controller and be part of an exciting time in the finance department. With the completion of a new system roll out in Q1 of 2023, the temporary AP Clerk will have the benefit of learning from the old systems and transitioning with the team to the new one. We are looking for Accounts Payable Specialist who can handle less volume but more complex transactions and adapt easily to new processes and systems.

Responsibilities would include:

  • intercompany payments
  • sales tax GST/PST/QST/HST
  • vendor relationship management
  • accruals + deferrals
  • operating expenses
  • capital expenditures
  • subledger reconciliations
  • cash disbursements
  • credit card processing
  • cash + bank reconciliations
  • procure-to-pay
  • prepayments
  • financial statement prep.
  • Balance sheet reconciliations

The Ideal Candidate will be available for a long term contract. Our client is seeking a temporary Senior AP Specialist for likely 12 months, with a possibility of full time work. You will bring a proven ability to self-direct your own workflow through your experience working remotely and can demonstrate how you have met deadlines or learned a new system in a remote world. Minimum of 5 years in an accounting clerk role, and a diploma in business administration of accounting would be ideal. If you are someone who values remote work, but ideally lives in Ottawa and can work core business hours, this organization is perfect for you. Excellent technology aptitude, fantastic professional attitude and personal responsibility for deadlines and timelines is expected.
