We are seeking a Senior Accounting Technician for our growing Assurance and Accounting team. Performance Expectations

  • Assist in the execution of compilation, bookkeeping and tax engagements
  • Work with the Accounting team to execute full cycle bookkeeping for MNP clients
  • Prepare and maintain payroll and related government remittances/filings, recording of sales, accounts receivable, expenses, accounts payable, payroll and Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) transactions
  • Prepare T4s, T5s and ROEs
  • Set up client files, assist with the completion of budgets and other administrative planning and completion aspects of accounting work
  • Perform the month-end and quarter-end close process timely and accurately
  • Maintain, monitor and reconcile GL accounts, including but not limited to cash, bank reconciliations, prepaid expenses, accounts receivable, accounts payable, accrued liabilities, intercompany and point of sale (POS)/system uploads
  • Identify issues and errors, investigate discrepancies, discuss with manager or engagement partner and develop resolutions to resolve issues and errors
  • Communicate with governments regarding information requests, assessments and installments
  • Work with accounting software and provide support to clients
  • Develop and maintain relationships with client management
  • Develop a thorough understanding of MNP’s services, businesses and industry
  • Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes

  • Possess two (2) to five (5) years of full cycle bookkeeping experience
  • Completion of certificate or diploma in accounting would be considered an asset
  • Ability to administer and understand full cycle accounting in a fast-paced environment
  • Working knowledge of trial balances, general ledger (GL) databases, financial statement close processes and accounting matters
  • Experience in preparing T4’s and T5’s and knowledge of personal and corporate tax is preferred
  • Understanding of payroll, bookkeeping and record keeping practices on a manual and computerized system(s)
  • Experience working with, or exposure to, accounting and tax software such as Caseware, Profile, Quickbooks and Simply Accounting is preferred
  • Strong computer literacy including effective working skills of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
