Senior Accountant

Dagen Personnel is recruiting an Accounting Manager for a construction company in Willis/Conroe, TX.

This is an in-office position.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the supervision of all A/R, A/P, and all other accounting staff.
• Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.
• Manage the monthly accounting cycle through GL close including all transactions, reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and intercompany consolidations.
• Ensuring timely preparation and presentation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Obtain primary financial data for accounting records.
• Managing, administering and retaining all corporate records, customer files, etc. in an orderly fashion.
• Manage all back accounts and ledgers: daily deposits, transfers, checks, wires, reconciliations, and monthly bank reporting.
• Regular tax reporting (i.e. weekly and quarterly payroll; annual W-2s and 1099s; etc.)
• Developing and maintaining a system for accurate planning and forecasting.
• Establishing and ascertaining proper internal controls for all accounting processes.
• Prorating expenses between departments.
• Managing complex account and class system.
• Facilitate and oversee company's cost accounting systems and resolve any discrepancies and variances. Compute and record numerical data.
• Check the accuracy of business transactions.
• Works with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audit.
• Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
• Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

Qualifications:

• Strong working knowledge (5-7 years' experience) of job costing and construction accounting.
• Knowledge of QuickBooks and other accounting software.
• Strong working knowledge of financial reports (ie profit and loss; balance sheet).
• Fundamental knowledge of GAAP.
• Bachelor's degree from 4-year college in a related field or commensurate experience
• CPA a plus
