Position Overview:

Our client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join their growing team. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of their financial records, while also driving process improvements and mentoring junior staff. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting, advanced Excel skills, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Oversee and manage general ledger accounting, including account reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Support the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and areas for cost optimization or efficiency improvements.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors to ensure compliance and provide necessary documentation.
  • Mentor and guide junior accounting staff, reviewing their work for accuracy and providing constructive feedback.
  • Lead or contribute to special projects, including system implementations, process enhancements, and financial analysis initiatives.
  • Leverage advanced Excel functions (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, complex formulas) to create and refine financial models and reports.
  • Stay current with industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices to ensure ongoing compliance and innovation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or working towards certification is highly preferred.
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in a corporate or public accounting environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and complex formulas; experience with macros is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
  • Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, or similar) is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop junior staff is a plus.
