We are looking for a Senior Accountant to work for our client. The ideal candidate aligns with the responsibilities and qualifications outlined below.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a detail‑oriented Senior Accountant with real estate industry experience to support multi‑entity accounting, financial reporting, and portfolio‑level analysis. This hybrid role in Cleveland provides exposure to property‑level and corporate accounting while collaborating with asset management, development, and operations teams.

Responsibilities

• Perform month‑end close including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations across multiple real estate entities
• Prepare property‑level and consolidated financial statements
• Track CAM reconciliations, tenant billings, straight‑line rent, and lease accounting (ASC 842 exposure a plus)
• Maintain job cost and construction‑in‑progress (CIP) schedules for development projects
• Support cash management, bank reconciliations, and loan/escrow activity tracking
• Partner with asset management and operations to review property performance
• Prepare variance analysis and provide insight into revenue, occupancy, and expense trends
• Assist with audits, tax package preparation, and budgeting processes
• Identify opportunities to improve reporting accuracy and close processes

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 3+ years of accounting experience within the real estate industry (commercial, residential, or mixed‑use)
• Experience with property accounting, CAM, rent schedules, and multi‑entity structures
• Strong understanding of GAAP; exposure to ASC 842 and real estate revenue recognition preferred
• Experience with real estate systems (e.g., Yardi, MRI, RealPage, Timberline)
• Strong Excel and financial analysis skills
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
