Senior Accountant - Construction

Our client is looking for a strong Senior Accountant with construction industry experience.

Duties:

  • Performs monthly balance sheet account analysis.
  • Performs budget vs. actual analysis for the company monthly.
  • Prepares various cash, AP discount and capitalization reports monthly.
  • Reviews and approves accounts payable, i.e., verifies that the payables comply with company policy.
  • Reviews and approves applications for new credit arrangements.
  • Books necessary journal entries monthly.
  • Monitors delinquent A/R.
  • Coordinate the month-end and year-end closing process.
  • Performs an internal audit and reports results to the CEO.
  • Strong cost accounting background with ability to perform forecasts and analysis and track gross margins.
  • Communicates with company’s bank representatives regarding the initiation and monitoring of sweep accounts and the renewal of line of credit accounts.
  • Prepares annual budget for equipment expenditures and tracks budget variances by department.
  • Advise management about insurance coverage for protection against property losses and potential liabilities. Direct determination of depreciation rates to apply to capital assets.
  • Reviews equipment capital requests and, once approved by the CEO, prepares the check.
  • Arrange for audits of company’s accounts.
  • Manages all banking relationships and transfers of funds between various accounts.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervises employees and fulfills supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EQUIREMENTS:

  • Four-year College degree in Accounting or Finance plus four or more years of strong direct accounting experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office is required and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel software is a plus.
  • Excellent problem solving/reasoning skills.
  • Effective communication, organizational and interpersonal skills for interacting with team members.
  • Position requires demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Effective negotiating skills.

Our client offers a salary of $75k to $85k plus M/D/V and matching 401k that vest day 1. and a bonus based on the company's profitability.
