Our client is a growing Charlotte based Commercial Real Estate Developer in Uptown Charlotte. Due to tremendous growth across their operating and development platforms, they are seeking a Senior Accountant. This position reports to an INCREDIBLE leadership team that prides themselves on mentoring and leading, but not micromanaging. This is an established team that has worked together for over 8+ years and they are seeking hardworking, fun team members to compliment their successful team.

DEVELOPMENT PROPERTY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prepare Project Construction Draws.

  • setting up schedule of deadlines on a monthly basis
  • gathering all the soft cost invoices
  • preparation of draw requests (gathering of all back up required)
  • communicating with the developers and bank reps during the approval and preparation of the draws
  • monitoring the status of funding on draws – following with bank reps, communication any problems/delays
  • verifying receipt of funds and recording them timely
  • satisfying all outstanding receivables, reconciling cash
  • reconciliation of JC subledger to WIP on the GL (schedule on a bottom of each draw spreadsheet)
  • verification of construction loan balances
  • monthly GL recons on development entries

Monitoring of cash balances and preparation of wire transfers.

  • daily cash monitoring
  • transfer cash when needed
  • booking all cash transactions (all cash needs to be booked the same or next day the latest)
  • following up on incoming wires/ACH deposits


Journal Entries/General Ledger Accounts Reconciliation.

  • book all the entries related to draws (construction contracts, interest, cash, loans cost actuals & reclasses


Review Trial Balances.

  • monthly review of TB for all development entities and their upper tier entities
  • verification of loan amounts and interest booked


Work with Developers/Maintain Job Cost Subledger.

  • assist them with Job Cost invoice coding, A/P research, reconcilliations and project cost projection reports


OPERATING PROPERTY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Daily Tasks:

  • check cash balances
  • wires prepared for execution as needed
  • cash receipts handled as needed
  • journal entries
  • security deposits

Weekly Tasks:

  • clear general ledger accounts
  • outstanding checks and escheats

Monthly Tasks:

  • financial month end closing including:
  • general ledger reconciliations
  • management fee calculation and recording
  • accounts receivable reconciliation
  • age delinquency report
  • view and record mortgage statements
  • financial statements and reporting package issuance for review
  • bank reconciliations

REQUIREMENTS:
  • BS Degree in Accounting
  • 3+ years of experience - real estate industry preferred
  • Construction job cost experience
  • Proficient in Excel & Word
