Our client is headquartered in Tampa and is expanding its accounting staff, due to steady growth. The Senior Accountant position is responsible for ensuring detailed accuracy and proper records of data for aspects of the General Ledger accounting functions. This role will develop accounting procedures to ensure a solid corporate foundation and fiscal responsibility. The Senior Accountant will collaborate cross-functionally with internal departments and external auditors. The Senior Accountant also serves as a mentor/coach to other members of the accounting group.
Ensure transactions, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries are GAAP compliant.
Prepare consolidated internal and external financial statements by gathering and analyzing information.
Complete month-end close process, verifying integrity and accuracy of the general ledger.
Investigate variances, identify and resolve issues.
CPA designation is strongly preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of experience public or corporate accounting.
Demonstrated knowledge of GAAP compliance as areas may include: revenue recognition, payroll, fixed assets, inventory, and accruals.
Exposure to acquisition accounting is a plus.
Have experience with Microsoft Excel and Financial Software, such as Great Plains.
Have strong professional written and verbal communication skills, and a strong sense of urgency and time management to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Be willing to dive right in to research problems using available resources.
