Job Summary
The client is seeking a highly organized, capable, and practical Senior Accountant to support its growing accounting, payroll, compliance, and financial reporting functions in Guyana.
This is a hands-on role focused on maintaining accurate financial records, payroll compliance, operational accounting discipline, and supporting the development of reliable internal financial systems as the client continues to expand.
The position is intended for a strong accounting professional who can take ownership of day-to-day financial processes while working closely with management, operational personnel, and external professional advisors.
This is not a CFO-track or public markets role. Strategic financing, investor relations, and parent-company corporate finance functions remain at the client’s overarching corporate level.

Responsibilities
- Maintain and oversee accurate day-to-day accounting records and bookkeeping functions
- Coordinate payroll processing and ensure full compliance with GRA requirements
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash tracking
- Assist with reconstruction, organization, and maintenance of financial records where required
- Maintain integrity of the general ledger and supporting schedules
- Support preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- Coordinate with external accountants, payroll providers, tax advisors, and auditors
- Assist in implementing practical internal controls, financial procedures, and reporting systems
- Support budgeting, expenditure monitoring, and operational financial management
- Work closely with the company’s management to improve financial discipline and organizational structure
- Provide accounting and financial support across both Georgetown administrative functions and active field operations as needed
Qualifications
- Approximately 7–15 years of progressively responsible accounting or finance experience
- Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CAT, CPA, or equivalent) preferred, though substantial practical experience may be considered
- Strong working knowledge of Guyana payroll, tax, and statutory compliance requirements
- Experience with bookkeeping, financial reporting, audit preparation, and internal controls
- Strong organizational and administrative capabilities
- High level of integrity, discretion, and reliability
- Comfortable working in a growing, evolving business environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficiency with accounting systems, spreadsheets, and financial recordkeeping tools
- Experience supporting mining, exploration, extraction, logistics, or other operational businesses in Guyana—particularly those requiring coordinated financial and administrative oversight from Georgetown for interior or hinterland operations—would be considered a significant advantage
- Experience coordinating with external auditors and professional service firms
